When learning from a tutorial, you usually do not need a summary of the entire video. You need a few moments you can follow again later.

TubeSteps is a local-first Chrome extension for YouTube tutorial notes. When a key action appears, press a shortcut to save the current video frame, playback timestamp, and visible caption. After watching, open the editor to rewrite titles and notes, reorder steps, remove duplicates, and export a visual guide for review or sharing.

### What TubeSteps does not do

TubeSteps does not automatically summarize the whole video, download video or audio, extract a complete transcript in the background, or upload your viewing content. You choose the moments worth keeping; TubeSteps keeps the frame, timestamp, and caption together.

### Supported pages

The first version supports standard YouTube `watch` pages. Shorts, live streams, embedded players, and YouTube Music are not part of the initial support scope.
